Nearly There!

June 21, 2006

Well, we're nearly there folks!

The forums are now up and running at http://www.chatcore.org/forums/, which will now act as the first port of call to check for updates and developments! The server is basically 100% complete, and conforms almost 100% to the IRCx protocal draft.

The web-interface is now in development, in its final stages, and it won't be long before we can set a release date for ChatCore to go live!

Thanks for your loyalty!

Back from the dead..

June 13, 2006

Welcome to the ChatCore development blog! As I'm sure you've been able to tell, we've been through re-design after re-design, MSN-Like to our own OCX, to Java, to XHMTL, then for months to absolutley nothing at all – now it all changes!

Yes, you heard correctly – ChatCore is back, and this time, prepare for changes. Before hand, ChatCore was not cross-browser compatible – this is due to the fact that our OCX (ActiveX control for web-based chatting) was coded in VB6, which is NOT compataible with Mozilla-like browsers (ie, FireFox).

The first, major, change then, is that now instead of using an embeded chat control feature, you download the client and that acts as the control – giving you more flexibility, uses (believe it or not) less resources AND gives you a FAR greater element of control over your own chat room, should you choose to create one.

The second major change – we're no longer relying on the ridiculusness of ircxPRO. We're coding our own server, based on the brilliant igntion-server, that some of you may or may not be aware of. This means (hopefully) that you can join multiple rooms via webchat, without the need for having to add an extra digit or character to your nickname for each new connection/room you join!

The third major change – all of the old staff you knew and loved have migrated with the Geese – we now consist mainly only of two people – myself, and Bench.

See the attached screenshots to get a taster for what ChatCore has to offer you, and what to expect in the very, VERY near future!
